BMB Holding expands export geography

On February 29 of this year, Italian partners Roberto Tucci and Alessandro Mombelloni and a member of the board of COSTCO, which owns a large chain of US hypermarkets, Natale de Francesco, visited Uzbekistan, in particular, the saffron plantations of the Bakhmal district, Jizzakh region, in order to familiarize themselves with the activities of BMB Holding and develop bilateral business relations in new directions.

COSTCO is considered the largest retail chain in its segment and ranks 11th among the largest companies in the United States in 2022. In addition to warehouse stores, the company also operates online stores in the US, Canada, Mexico, UK, South Korea, Taiwan, Japan and Australia. At the end of 2023, the company’s annual revenue amounted to $242.3 billion.

It should be noted that BMB Holding has been working for several years on promising projects to supply Uzbek saffron to the US market together with Italian partners. As a result, BMB Zaʼfaron received the most prestigious international USDA organic certificate – the organic certificate of the US Department of Agriculture.

The American guest was of great interest in the project being implemented with Italian partners in the joint venture “BMB-OPERA ZAFFERANO” for the cultivation, storage and export of saffron in Bakhmal district of Jizzakh region. It should be noted that Uzbek saffron, which is an effective remedy for the treatment of many diseases, is considered a natural component of the chemical composition of a number of medicines, is widely used in cosmetology and cooking, and is in great demand in the US markets.

During the visit, the parties expressed their readiness to provide practical assistance in the joint development of trade markets and the search for potential partners in various areas of the economy and business.
It is not for nothing that the management of the American company COSTCO carefully examines the activities of the enterprises of the BMB Holding system, from production to deep processing.

In the near future, it is planned to sign an export contract with this large company for the supply of saffron and other highly processed agricultural products.
