On April 9 of this year, a meeting was held at the head office of BMB HOLDING with representatives of METRO Cash and Carry Russia.
The agenda of the meeting included issues of supplying high-quality agricultural products grown and deeply processed in Uzbekistan to Russian consumers through the METRO Cash and Carry Russia supermarket chain. Within the framework of the discussions, the possibilities of exporting not only traditional premium fruits and vegetables but also products that meet modern market demands – dried, deeply processed, and frozen fruits and vegetables, as well as other food products – were considered.
Today, consumer preferences in the global market, including Russia, are evolving. Buyers are paying great attention not only to the naturalness and taste of the product but also to its convenient packaging, long shelf life, and compliance with international quality standards. From this perspective, cooperation with large retailers like METRO presents another opportunity for Uzbek manufacturers to adapt their products to world standards and expand their export geography.
One of the most significant aspects of the negotiations was that representatives of METRO Cash and Carry Russia expressed their readiness to provide a list of specific technical requirements and standards for products planned for delivery from Uzbekistan, essentially a “technical specification.”
The meeting and preliminary agreements reached between the holding’s representatives and METRO Cash and Carry Russia indicate bright prospects for mutually beneficial cooperation. Now the main task is to establish the supply of high-quality and competitive products based on the provided technical requirements. Success in this endeavor will allow us to showcase our country’s agricultural potential to the world more extensively.
