Uzbek chess player and BMB HOLDING brand ambassador Umida Omonova delivered a commendable performance at the Women’s World Chess Championship currently taking place in the city of Batumi.
The tournament, consisting of five stages, semifinals, and a final, brought together 107 of the world’s strongest young players, becoming a significant event in the international chess calendar.
A multiple-time winner of national and international tournaments, U. Omonova respectably represented Uzbekistan at this competition. In a highly competitive setting, she demonstrated confident play, strategic thinking, and a high level of preparation.
In the earlier rounds, Umida convincingly overcame opponents such as Sophie Milliet of France, Alina Kashlinskaya of Poland, and Elnaz Kalikhmet from Kazakhstan. In the fourth round, she faced the tournament’s top seed — Grandmaster Lei Tingjie — after which she concluded her participation. Notably, her result was the best among all Uzbek female participants.
Since 2023, U. Omonova has served as a brand ambassador for BMB HOLDING and is currently ranked 7,443rd out of 18,511 players in the FIDE World Rankings.
