On February 25 of this year, a meeting took place between the Head of the Research Department of BMB HOLDING, Dr. Bumayram Usmonova, PhD in Agricultural Sciences, and Professor Sun Hyung Kim, PhD in Agricultural Sciences from Seoul National University.
During the discussions, topics covered included ensuring food security, implementing modern innovations in fruit and vegetable cultivation, addressing existing industry challenges, and introducing in vitro methods in nursery development. In addition, the scientific foundations for improving soil fertility and crop yield were thoroughly examined.
Special attention was given to the prospects of cultivating sweet potatoes, a crop that is currently not widely grown in the country. The parties exchanged views on comparative studies of varieties similar to potatoes and on conducting scientific research on the feasibility of growing this crop under saline soil conditions.
Both sides expressed their readiness to collaborate with Korean experts at every stage-from planting to harvesting the sweet potatoes, which are planned to be cultivated for the first time on BMB AGRO fields in the Arnasay district of Jizzakh region. This collaboration will also include scientific and practical advisory support throughout the process.
The meeting, held in a constructive and friendly atmosphere, emphasized that the introduction of new crop varieties, the efficient use of land and water resources, and the practical application of international scientific experience will create a solid foundation for strengthening food security, increasing productivity, and expanding export potential.
