DISCUSSIONS HELD ON DEVELOPING TRADE AND ECONOMIC COOPERATION WITH MALAYSIA

On May 14 of this year, a meeting was held between Bekzod Mamatkulov, Chairman of the Founders Board of BMB HOLDING, and Ilham Tuah bin Illias, Ambassador of Malaysia to the Republic of Uzbekistan.

At the beginning of the meeting, the guest was provided with detailed information about the main areas of activity of the enterprises within BMB HOLDING, the company’s export potential, ongoing joint investment projects, as well as the results achieved to date.

Ambassador Ilham Tuah bin Illias expressed satisfaction that trade and economic relations between Uzbekistan and Malaysia are reaching a qualitatively new stage of development. He also emphasized that the interest of Malaysian business circles in Uzbekistan continues to grow steadily, while cooperation between entrepreneurs of the two countries is actively expanding in the fields of semiconductor technologies, tourism, and the restaurant industry. According to him, all necessary conditions have been created in Uzbekistan for further strengthening mutually beneficial partnership.

Particular attention during the meeting was paid to cooperation in the tourism sector. The Ambassador noted that the recently established Center of Islamic Civilization, as well as the reconstructed Imam Al-Bukhari Complex, will become important factors in attracting Malaysian tourists to Uzbekistan.

In addition, it was noted that practical efforts are currently underway in Uzbekistan to promote Malaysian national cuisine and establish Malaysian restaurants in the country.

During the negotiations, the parties also discussed prospects for cooperation in the field of Islamic finance. Issues related to the implementation of new joint projects involving BMB HOLDING in this area were considered.

Within the framework of cooperation in agriculture, the parties discussed the introduction of Malaysia’s advanced experience in Uzbekistan, including the involvement of specialists in citrus cultivation, the supply of seeds and saplings, and the application of modern agrotechnologies. In addition, prospects for exporting Uzbekistan’s processed fruit and vegetable products, including dried fruits, to the Malaysian market were reviewed.

Following the meeting, the parties agreed to establish direct contacts between the business communities of the two countries, organize negotiations between Malaysian companies and BMB HOLDING, and continue cooperation in implementing promising joint projects.
