On July 18, an Uzbekistan–Kurdistan Region of Iraq Economic Forum was held in Tashkent with the support of the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Uzbekistan, the Federation of Chambers of Commerce and Industry of the Kurdistan Region of Iraq, and the Embassy of the Republic of Uzbekistan in the State of Kuwait.
The forum focused on discussing prospects for further strengthening trade and economic relations between the business communities of the two regions, enhancing investment cooperation, and implementing joint projects. The event brought together the leadership of the Federation of Chambers of Commerce and Industry of the Kurdistan Region of Iraq, representatives of the chambers of commerce of Erbil, Sulaymaniyah, Duhok, Halabja, and Kirkuk, as well as more than 400 entrepreneurs and business representatives from both countries.
As part of the forum, Bobir Yakhyayev, Director of the Foreign Economic Relations Department of BMB HOLDING, held a series of bilateral meetings with executives of leading companies and business organizations from the Kurdistan Region of Iraq.
In particular, discussions on promising areas of cooperation were held with Lawand Mamondi, Chief Executive Officer of FLYERBIL Wings of Life, Khalel Goran, General Manager of GORAN Group, Arjan A. Shakir, Vice Chairman of the Kirkuk Chamber of Commerce, Madhat M. Salihi, General Director of Miran Kirkuk Co. Ltd., Farhad Faiq, Chief Executive Officer of AvaNovin Full Service Advertising and Marketing Agency, as well as representatives of Gela Dairy.
During the negotiations, BMB HOLDING presented its capabilities in the agro-industrial sector, food production and exports, the development of international trade activities, and the implementation of joint projects with foreign partners.
The parties also discussed opportunities for supplying Uzbek products to the market of the Kurdistan Region of Iraq, establishing distribution networks with local partners, implementing investment projects, and providing BMB HOLDING’s expertise in market analysis, project development, and consulting services to facilitate entry into international markets.
Special attention was also given to the effective utilization of the tourism potential of the Kurdistan Region of Iraq, the development of cooperation in the hospitality and restaurant industry (HORECA), and the exchange of experience in the service sector.
As a result of the negotiations, the parties reached agreements to consistently strengthen cooperation with the business community of the Kurdistan Region of Iraq, develop practical proposals for the implementation of specific projects, and further expand BMB HOLDING’s presence in export markets and the international services market.
